Water walls work best where people pause: a front entry, a courtyard, the end of a pool. A thin, even sheet of water falling down stone or over a lip creates movement and a steady sound that masks traffic and neighbours better than almost anything else.
The details that matter are hidden. The top trough has to distribute water perfectly evenly or the sheet breaks into streams. The catch basin has to be deep enough to stop splash. And the wall itself needs a waterproof backing so water never reaches the structure behind it.
We build freestanding water walls, walls integrated into retaining or garden walls, and water features set into the side of a house or pool terrace.

Before you build
What to plan for
Even flow
A water wall that runs unevenly looks unfinished. We level the spillway precisely and size the pump for the full width.
Splash zone
Wind and height send water sideways. We set the basin width and drop height so walkways and furniture stay dry.
Hard water
Mineral deposits can streak stone and clog spillways. We plan for easy cleaning and recommend treatment where water is hard.

Water walls: common questions
Can a water wall be attached to my house?
It can be, but only with a proper waterproof assembly between the feature and the house. Many clients choose a freestanding wall nearby to keep water away from the structure entirely.
Are water walls loud?
They make a steady sound that depends on height and flow. We tune both, so it can be a soft background or a stronger sound that masks road noise.
Do water walls work in winter?
Outdoor water walls are drained and shut down for winter in Ontario. We design them so the trough and basin drain completely.
